HDO called Humanitarian Development Organization during its field visits to newly resettled areas in Pachchilaippalli DS division in Kilinochchi observed the pathetic situation of students learning under the trees even after a decade of resettlement.
With the request of the community and school management committee for additional school buildings, HDO managed to get the funding assistance from the Japan Embassy in 2019. In close coordination with District Secretary, Divisional Secretary, Zonal Director of Education and field level officials, HDO successfully completed a building with all accessibility facilities to special needs children in the area and another building for other students.
HDO together with community organized an official handing over ceremony on 9th July 2020. Mrs. Rubawathy Ketheeswaran, District Secretary of Kilinochchi, Mrs. Jeyarani Paramothayan, Divisional Secretary of Pachchilaipalli Division, Mr. Vasuthevan, Deputy Director of Education Kilinochchi, Ms. Julie, Deputy program manager of Halo Trust, Mr. Jesurasa Amirtharaj Director of HDO and Mr. Krishnapillai Kanthavel, Chairman of HDO graced the occasion.
